The occurring differences between the internal guest blogging and the external guest blogging, interchanging and publishing articles in the blogging minefield comes as a result of diversities within the content management systems (CMS), relating to their dashboard, features, settings, functions, and platforms.

Internal and external Content Management Systems (CMS)

For the purpose of understanding internal guest blogging and external guest blogging thus, lead us to internal CMS and external CMS, bringing about the difference in the internal and the external guest blogging due to features, settings, platform and general operation.

Internal CMS.

Internal (CMS) content management system is CMS from the same platform. Most of the Content Managing Services (CMS) offers free services and premium services, and they can interchange dashboard and cross share their content with respective audiences.

Internal CMS are for example;
  • Wordpress.com – Offer free blogging platform for Wordpress beginners, and can interchange dashboard (authors, contributes, admin) with the premium version Wordpress.org since there are of the same CMS.

  • Wordpress.org – Offer a premium blogging services to bloggers wishing to go advanced, and can exchange blogging dashboard, authorship, contributors, and even admin role with bloggers on the Wordpress.com

    • Blogspot.com – Google own services, delivery free blogging platform to beginners in the blogosphere, and can interchange blogging dashboard (author or admin) with the premium version of Google Blogger.com

      • Blogger.com – Google advanced blogging platform for most serious bloggers that can also exchange blogging dashboard (author or admin) with bloggers from the free platform Blogspot.com of the same CMS

      External CMS.

      Since Internal (CMS) Content Management system can interchange blogging platform by inviting guest author of the same CMS to guest post, external CMS come to play base on the huge importance of guest blogging, but has its own limitation like inability to accept guest blogging invitation from the internal CMS due to platform diversity etc.

      External CMS are for example;

      • External CMS could be any other CMS on the web like Wordpress, Blogger, Weebly, Joomla, Drupla, Magento, Prestashop etc

      • External CMS is external because it cannot send or accept blogging invitation, neither able to share blogging platform/dashboard with internal CMS (other CMS).

      • For guest blogging sake, external guest bloggers using external CMS must submit their articles with in-scripted author’s bio to internal guest bloggers – probably the admin(s) for review and immediate publication.

      There are also other CMS providing free and premium blogging management services, but I'll stop on on Wordpress and Blogger for now.

      What is Internal Guest Blogging?

      Internal guest blogging is simply the act of exchanging and publishing articles on other blogger’s sites basically from the same content management system (CMS). For example, I’m blogging on Blogger and you are blogging on the same blogger or Blogspot platform, we can inter-submit, exchange or publish content directly from each dashboard, provided the guest blogging invitation was made and as well accepted. This can as well be applicable to other CMS’s like Wordpress etc.

      Guest blogging on the some CMS and submitting article for publication without publishing the article directly after a prior guest blogging invitation is made is simple not the best compared to publishing the content by you, since you’ll be losing various internal blogging features you stand to gain guest blogging, like having author avatar behind posts titles, author’s profile widget below post etc.

      Characteristic of Internal Guest Blogging.

      1. Internal guest blogger could from any CMS like Blogger, Wordpress, Weebly etc

      2. Internal guest blogging can only invite author from the same CMS to guest post directly from his or her dashboard.

      3. Internal guest blogger can only accept submitted guest posts from external guest bloggers for immediate publication, but must come with in-scripted author’s bio profile.

      4. Internal guest bloggers have the ability to displays author’s bio in the author’s profile widget below post.

      5. Internal guest bloggers can also have his or her author’s avatar appears behind every of his or her guest posted articles titles as a brain behind those content.

      What is External Guest Blogging?

      External guest blogging on the other hand, are guest bloggers from the other content management services (third party websites) (CMS) cross submitting content with their in-scripted author’s bio to bloggers on the other CMS platform - blog admin for immediate publication after review.

      External guest blogging has some limitation because they can only submit content for publication but cannot be invited into the external blog (third party website) dashboard to publish the post themselves. This is simply due to differences in the CMS application, settings and features.

      Characteristics of External Guest Blogging.

      1. External guest blogger can be from any CMS platform like Wordpress, Blogger, Joomla, Drupal, etc

      2. External guest blogger can only guest blog on other CMS by submitting articles to the admin for review and immediate publication.

      3. External guest blogger can only be invited to publish from the invited blog dashboard if it is of the same CMS.

      4. External guest blogger cannot leverage the author’s avatar behind posts titles since they are not of the same CMS.

      5. External guest blogger have no access for automatic display of his or her author’s bio bellow posts except through customized external guest blogger profile widget.

      In conclusion, internal guest blogging and external guest blogging is more or less cross publication and submission of fresh articles between bloggers from the same CMS and the bloggers from the other CMS respectively for guest blogging practices.
